Why we sell it one cube at a time

Sets are a guess about your room. A nine-cube unit assumes you have nine cubes' worth of things and a wall exactly that wide. Buying by the cube lets you start with one and add as the collection grows — a second cube when the records outgrow the first, a fourth when the playroom needs a low shelf the kids can reach without climbing. Dust with a dry or barely damp cloth and dry immediately — no wet wipes, no silicone polish. Pine marks: a coaster under every drink, felt pads under lamps, and a soft cloth with a drop of mild soap for anything sticky. Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators; solid wood moves with heat and humidity, and a cube that sits in a sunbeam will change tone faster than the rest of the stack.

Is this one cube or a whole shelf?

One cube. The photos show arrangements you can build, not what ships in the box. Two cubes are two units, four cubes are four units — that's why the price is per cube and not per wall.

Will my 12-inch records fit?

Yes, with a lean. A 12-inch LP is about 12.4 inches across and the cube is 11.81 inches deep, so records rest against the inside face at a slight angle and sit nearly flush with the front edge. Most people store LPs that way regardless. Box sets and thick gatefolds are tighter — check the interior opening if you're storing those.

Is it really solid wood, or MDF with a veneer?

Solid pine. You can see end grain at every corner, and the knots and grain run through the panels rather than sitting on a printed surface. Expect natural variation from cube to cube — that's what solid wood looks like.

How many can I stack?

Three high freestanding, which is 47.2 inches and how the tallest arrangement is photographed. Anything taller, and any stack in a home with kids or large dogs, should be anchored to the wall with a furniture strap.

Can I use one as a nightstand?

Yes, with one adjustment: 15.74 inches is lower than a conventional 24-inch nightstand. It's the right height beside a platform bed or a low frame, and a little low next to a tall traditional bed. Two stacked gives you 31.5 inches, which is taller than most nightstands but works as a side table.

Does it arrive assembled?

Within a batch, yes. Across batches, pine tone shifts slightly with age and finish lot, so if you're building a wall, order every cube you need in one order while this run lasts.
